What is the best slackline?
Slacklining is a sporting discipline, complete with a Federation, and it is a valid help to learn how to balance, both for children and adults.
It is practiced walking on a long and flat ribbon (up to 5 cm) that is stretched between two trees (or two pylons). It is self-supporting because it must support the weight of the body, but it is rather elastic and dynamic, so not only need a good dose of balance but also a good strength in the legs. It helps concentration and is recommended for newcomers to improve surfing on the board.
You do not just stand or stand up but you can perform a wide range of movements, jumps or rebounds, evolutions, use the line for static, fitness and yoga poses.
Everything happens a few centimeters from the ground, and therefore proves ideal for the whole family.
It’s also a different way of burning fat and shaping muscles and a more fun way to do fitness and workout.
It also becomes a reason for sociability, because stretching an elastic ribbon between two points in a public place like a beach or a park, attracts people who ask you to try.
It is an exciting and ecological sport because it is practiced outdoors, without safety ropes, and apart from the initial costs you do not generally have others to support.
The slackline kit are very simple, on the market you will find different proposals depending on the different activities you want to practice and the degree of tension you want to have. The price of a good slackline is between 40 and 80 euros.
You can make the best purchases in terms of cheaper product with online sales. There are specialized brands. For your safety, avoid products at low prices, since the expense is almost only for the slack.
Who said it’s a simple rope?
Tie a thin strip of fabric made of a sturdy nylon material between two trees. Then walk on it balancing yourself, making you bounce and throwing yourself into reckless tightrope walkers. Here is an adventure sport that will also serve you to stay in shape: this is slacklining.
It is an extreme sport invented in the late ’70s in California by young climbers who wanted to do something different when their arms were too tired because of the continuous climbs. What to do then during forced breaks? Nothing better than developing balance by walking on a rope. Thus, slackline kit and climbing alternated.
Soon they realized that the tape, compared to a cable or a tightrope, provided some advantages including a lower weight, dynamism, ease of assembly.
A real sport
Today slacklining is practiced at every skill level, from beginners to the most experienced. All you need is the special webbing to stretch between two supports, such as poles or trees.
It is a sport of balance that refers to the act of walking on the rope, whether the line is suspended a few centimeters from the ground or hundreds of feet in the air (think of the thrill of doing it in the Dolomites!).
Balance and stability are an integral part of many adventure sports but walking on slackline lead you to strengthen the muscles of the trunk and legs, and those of the arms to balance. Furthermore, walking on the slackline helps keep your mind clear and focused for a long time.
If you are starting you must first learn how to walk on the line. Then, there is much more to explore.

What types are available?
The slackline is made in different versions that differ depending on the length and width of the tape. Let’s see them together.
Generally referred to as the “baseline” to learn how to take the first steps and stay in balance, it is stretched between two trees a few centimeters from the ground. As for the length, you can find for example slackline 10m and slackline 15 m.
From this type, derive all the other models that we list below.
It consists of a very tight 5 cm wide line, positioned at about 50-70 cm from the ground, where it is possible to perform jumps and evolutions, thanks to its flexibility: it is just like a spring.
They are lines over 30-40 meters in length (up to 600 meters in length) and 2.5 cm in width. They are soft lines to be laid in basins or meadows and are affected by the weight of their body, the wind and the dynamism of the materials.
This term refers to any type of slackline stretched above the water.
The line is stretched to a height that requires the use of the harness but is not high enough to be considered a true highline.
It is a stretched line at considerable heights, over 30-40 meters. Most highlines are covered using a harness and a climbing lanyard.
Highliner faces two main obstacles. First of all, they must have a place to place their line, and then they need all the equipment and knowledge to put it in safety. The golden rule is: use any security device in case of difficulty. A mistake, in fact, can be fatal.
Other types of disciplines?
Special forms of slackline kit can be considered other simpler disciplines. Urban living, for example, is a combination of different styles of slacklining. Obviously, it is performed in urban areas such as streets or urban parks.
Slackline and yoga is a great way to add variety to your fitness meditation routine. It is very similar to traditional yoga, only practiced on a slackline! This includes everything from standing positions to kneeling poses, arms budgets, etc. It’s great for improving dynamic balance, concentration, breathing, confidence in the core and slackline!
The freestyle slack differs from the other types of slacklining because the line is not tense but it is very loose, even with slacklining standards! This loose tension translates into a very dynamic line, allowing you to perform multiple static and oscillating maneuvers.
Windling is instead the art of balancing on a slackline in very windy conditions. The variable wind intensity creates a very dynamic experience, compared to the feeling of flying, since the slackliner must incline the body in the wind to maintain balance.
Choose the right kit
The most classic type of slackline is ideal for helping beginners to take their first steps safely. Any assistance provided by a partner can help you learn the right balance and technique more quickly.
